Creating the “football experience” teaches your young athletes not only the fundamentals of the game, but also about the mental, emotional, and social aspects of playing football and being part of a team. Beyond the competition, these are the things that make football special and easily the greatest sport in the world. A good football coach will not only look for, but also create opportunities to highlight the importance of effort, respect, determination, pride, focus, and teamwork.

It is critical to remember that only a small percentage, if any, of your players will advance to the college or professional level. Some may advance to the high school level, but for many, playing youth football may be their only opportunity. So, what most of your athletes take with them is not just how to block or tackle…they take with them, how to be a teammate, how to overcome adversity, how to succeed, how to work hard, how to accept responsibility and be accountable, and how to respect themselves and others.
